Bagpipe music Pálava

Bagpipe music Pálava was established in 1998 and as already the name suggests, its focus and effort is to revive and uncover the ancient way of playing, using the pipes. It influences also the composition of players. There are two violin players, one of them plays the leading melody or polyphony graced with precise figures and the second violin focus on support harmony. There are three-stringed violin in tune of g1-d2-a1 with flat bridge, which allows playing all the three strings together. Using this uncommon adjustment of violin we can play the whole chord. There is also so-called small bass which is simulated in our group by violoncello with traditional tuning. The forth and also the most important instrument is of course the pipes. We use special pipes made by Mr. Pavel Číp from Zubří in tune of G, D major and g,d minor.

We have already visited various festivals in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic but also in Italy, Hungary, Poland, Austria and Germany. Our group has also cooperated with the greatest pipes players in Moravia in recording CD called „Gajdovali gajdoši ...z Moravy a Slezska“ (music publisher Písnička) and CD of Pálava folk music group „Imala sam miloga“ (published on own expense).

Gajdošská muzika Pálava has got in its repertoire cca 15-20 minutes long theme performances called: „Songs of Moravian Croatians“, „Songs from Podluží“, „Pipe Christmas“, or „Gajdošské ščerglivé“. It can also be combined with dancing performance, dulcimer music or other groups playing the pipes with players from the Czech Republic, Moravia or Slovak Republic.
